Explanation of the different types of join in mySQL

Hey there

I always get a bit confused between the different types of join with mysql - like left join and right join...

What's the difference between these two and how do you know what type of join you need?

Also any tips on debugging queries you write using these two like working out when you get the wrong results why that is, or if the query fails totally working out what it is that's wrong with the query!
